Mythology
In this unit, we will be dabbling in Greek mythology. We will introduce ourselves to some of the main and minor gods and goddesses of the time in literature. We will begin to understand the Greek culture through the stories of mythical characters. Though much of this literature is far fetched and may be considered outrageous in our day, the gods and goddesses portrayed in these stories of friendship, betrayal, power and wealth are icons in the world around us today.
In this unit, we will spend time listening to some of the more common myths.
We will visit a mythology website and learn about some of the gods and goddesses.
We will read one of Mrs. Scheffer's all time favorite pieces of greek literature, "Damon and Pythias" in play form.
We will also enjoy a play about King Midas!
I hope you enjoy this unit and all that we will learn. In high school, you will get the opportunity to delve into mythology at a deeper level. Let the GAMES begin!!!
